WARM LAKE HIGHWAY ROAD ACCESS UPDATE FOR RESIDENTS

The Valley County Sheriff's Office is planning to allow residents and vetted contractors (those providing services to residents in the Warm Lake, Yellow Pine, and Big Creek areas) to come and go as needed without an escort along the Warm Lake Highway. Our goal is to start this on Friday, August 23, 2024, dependent on weather and fire activity. The current escort service will end at that time.

The Warm Lake Highway remains closed to the public and will only be open to those approved in advance by the Sheriff's Office. Please follow these steps if you are a resident or service provider in the area looking to travel along the Warm Lake Highway:

  1. Complete the Verification Form
  2. Once verified, please complete Travel Request Form
  3. Repeat as necessary for any and all travel dates.

If your travel plans change, please let Dispatch (208) 382-5160 know as soon as possible.

Your name and travel dates and times will be added to the list at the road closure checkpoint.

Please note, the Warm Lake Highway remains CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AND CLOSED FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES. Verified access to use the Warm Lake Highway is limited to residents and necessary service and fire personnel.

The Snag Fire remains active, and all travel is at your own risk. We ask that if you are allowed access, you remain vigilant of weather, fire conditions, and hazards along the roadway such as downed trees. At any point, the Sheriff's Office may instate a full road closure for safety purposes.
