How do I report a crime?

In Valley County, all crimes must be reported to the Valley County Dispatch Center. You may report a crime by calling 911 or use the Online Police Reporting page. Dispatch will route the call to the appropriate agency, such as Valley County Sheriff or McCall Police Department.

If you have general questions for these law enforcement agencies, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office can be reached on their Non-Emergency line at 208-382-7150. McCall Police Department can be reached on their Non-Emergency line at 208-634-7144

I am the victim of a crime. I would like to drop the charges. How do I do that?

Crimes are charged by the Valley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on behalf of the People of the State of Idaho. We do not represent the victim. The decision to file or proceed with charges can only be made by the attorneys in our office. While we encourage victims to have a voice in the resolution of the criminal case, the outcome will ultimately be determined by the prosecutor assigned to the case.

I am the victim of a crime, and I would like to know what is happening with the case. When is the next court date? How do I ask for a No Contact Order?

Please contact our Victim Witness Coordinator, Kathleen Wilson, at 208-382-7123 or email kwilson@co.valley.id.us for assistance.

I have out-of-pocket expenses as the result of a crime. Is there some way for me to seek restitution?

I was charged with a crime. Can I speak to the Prosecuting Attorney?

If you are the defendant in a criminal case, the prosecuting attorney is bound by an ethical code which may not allow him or her to speak with you.

If you are represented by an attorney, you should only speak to your attorney about your case.

If you are not represented by an attorney, call our office at 208-382-7120 to see if the attorney is able to speak to you
