Sheriff Kevin Copperi was raised in Butte, Montana and Boise, Idaho. He spent the majority of his childhood in Boise and graduated from Boise High School. He co-owned and operated a successful business for over 25 years and began his law enforcement career with the Caldwell Police Department in 2004; where he served as a member of their Tactical Response Team (SWAT/TRT), the Selected Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) team and was a field training officer (FTO).
In 2007, Sheriff Copperi moved his career to Valley County, where he has continued his field training officer duties and served as a patrol Corporal, patrol Sergeant and the Operations Lieutenant, overseeing patrol, civil administration and detention.
Sheriff Copperi holds a management level law enforcement certificate and is a current certified police officer through the State of Idaho.
Sheriff Copperi enjoys engaging with the community, building police/ community trust, and implementing progressive policing opportunities. Sheriff Copperi is committed to fair, consistent and equitable treatment as a leader in the Sheriff's Office.
